  titleData-mining for clinical decision support: decision trees with weighted importance matrices
  abstract
  Clinical decision support is based on inductive followed by deductive reasoning. After sketching this general framework, a specific example of inductive data-mining will be presented. It will be argued that decision tree modeling can be very useful in clinical decision support. Next a specific implementation will be presented. In this implementation the confusion matrix (i.e., the matrix of true and false postitive and negative decisions) is weighted by an importance matrix to generate the accuracy measure that is used in model selection. This feature proved to be useful in a situation with very skewed base rates of treatment response, i.e., a quite effective treatment combination of biological (rTMS) and psychological (CBT) treatment for depression.
