I'm in office 9A-29 on the 9th floor of the NU building.
The picture with the tie is by Patrick Siemons.
Research interests over the years: flows in porous media and all that, nonlinear diffusion, coronal loops of the sun (and other stars), thin film viscous flows,
strongly indefinite variational systems,
turbulence models, combustion
modelling and flame fronts, radiative
flame balls,
flame speeds, free boundary problems, nonlinear dynamical systems, travelling waves, stability analysis, applications of
analytic semigroups, model equations for fronts, singularity formation,
geometric flows, turbulent flows, mathematical modelling in
physiology,
virus control, mathematics and industry, medical applications,
resonators in microdevices, and more recently, hurricanes (to appear in SIAM J. Appl. Math.), high performance fibers (to appear in J. Materials Sc) and systems biology:
glycolysis,
optimization in metabolic pathways and
networks, and inevitably these days:
machine learning. Applied math is not a subfield.
